What i did
Roots and Wings: During my freshman year, I participated in a program called Roots and Wing which was outdoor learning program that based itself on working in national parks. This sort of program taught students about Native Americans who travelled throughout California and it taught students about the different types of native plants and animals. As this was a great experience, as I worked with different park rangers, that taught me a valuable lesson on California's wildlife. As this was an opportunity that I used at school to teach myself about how life was like in the past and how this will influence me more to join other types of programs which will benefit me in my education.
Aids Walk: I also joined in the Aids walk in my freshman year as i was interested in what it was all about as it did get my attention. As this was the start which would change the way I stayed active in school. I got to meet many people that where in groups and seeing how everyone joined together as the mayor of L.A stood in front of the stage and gave out a speech that would make everyone scream hooray. I was excited as I saw the many people move along in the streets and thus the walk was tiring and exciting it made me thing of the hard work everyone go through each year for such an event. This was an activity was a great way for me to start motivating to work and learn more.
Heal the Bay: As most of my work was usually in my freshman year, the Heal the bay was another service that I had done with an after school program. It was involved with LALA Corp as the club focus was on helping the community, this field trip was a way of helping. As our group went to Venice beach to help out and clean and this was a great example for us. As this was a way of helping our community and it showed us that students are able to perform deeds that most people aren't or not willing to do. This was a great way
